About

"Time to diversify" - the conversation that started it all. The Foundry Murwillumbah was created from a need to reposition our family business formerly known as Murwillumbah Newsagency and Office City.

The aim was to create a shopping experience that would become favourite with locals and a destination for weekend trips or holidays away from the city. The building, the name, the products - all providing the basis for this to occur.

1908 building

The spark that started it all was a 1908 building in the heart of the main street of Murwillumbah. Formerly a menswear store, it was not until restoration commenced that it was revealed that the building was hiding so much more.

Murwillumbah Fire 1907 - The great fire that destroyed the entire town in 1907 was reported to have started in the building next door - E. Dainers Bakery.

First to rebuild 1908 - According to former owner Bell, 90 Murwillumbah Street was the first

brand story

Every good brand has an equally good story. For us, the branding is a 'hats off' to the beauiful building that kept on revealing itself throughout the restoration process. Was the building a Foundry? Quite simply - no it wasn't. The building has a strong history stooped in retail which was perfect and provided us the opportunity to continue this tradition.

But why rename to "The Foundry Murwillumbah"?
